I was scheduled to interview for a CSM role at Datadog with a Singapore based sales recruiter. The recruiter was almost 10 mins late for the interview; I understand that some meetings overrun, but a courtesy apology would have been appreciated. Jumped straight in to the interview, probably in the interest of time. I ran through my professional career, my experience as a CSM, and how I’m suited for the role. The recruiter then asked about my salary expectations, and that’s when she revealed that the company has decided to ‘pivot’ for this to be a much more junior role than what I’m currently playing; they had changed it to a Customer Success Associate position, and the compensation was also way lower than my current levels. I politely declined to take the interview process any forward as neither the role nor the compensation were aligned. An unprofessional experience and a complete waste of time for everyone involved.
