Responded to an ad and had my face to face interview all within one week. Met the Purchasing Manager who immediately led me on a tour of the facility. Afterward, we sat down in his office for a discussion. An early question was “Did they tell you the salary range?” No. No salary listed and HR didn’t mention it when scheduling. He then stated “You don’t have experience in these (their product), so they will start you at X.” This was the end of the interview. He quoted a salary that was 40% less than my last salary! In an area with a very high cost of living. I replied that we didn’t need to waste any more time as their salary was FAR below my needs, and what I thought the market rates are in the Bay Area.
