It was a smooth interview, and I felt very comfortable during the meeting. The HR was very friendly and approachable, making the conversation flow naturally. I’m feeling positive about the outcome

After completing my SATI questionnaire, I got an email about 2 weeks later asking me to attend a Zoom interview. The interview consisted of HR, two accounting dept heads and the head of the branch. Short and sweet interview of 20min consisting of more EQ questions, asking to elaborate on some of the SATI questions. I did well and was told that I passed the interview stage, so the final stage would be reference check. They asked for whatsapp no of my current and previous superiors. 3 working days later I got an email that they did not want to proceed with the application. Upon further inquiry, I was told that I did not pass the reference check. I don't think it's really fair if my references weren't responsive on whatsapp. The HR could have tried other ways to communicate with my references, or if they had asked, I could have provided other references. But, if that's their procedure then so be it. I advise those who are asked for references, please make sure you put someone who is on good terms with you, and highly responsive on whatsapp.
