Like everyone else has said, they will ghost you. I had the same experience where communication was inconsistent throughout the interview process. There were noticeable gaps in response times through the whole process. I would reach out for updates, and eventually, another interview would be scheduled. After about a month or so, I reached the final interview stage, where I was told that everything went great and was asked to prepare my references as they would be contacting them.... Then they never followed up. Despite my attempts to check in, I still received no response. Why even tell me to prepare and reach out to references if you were just going to ghost me?
