From the start, Dow Chemical was very professional. It felt like a longshot to get hired, but I figured I'd seek them out at the career fair anyway and try my best. The recruiters knew a lot about the company and had answers to all my questions about promotion, atmosphere, and tuition assistance. My GPA was on the lower end, but they didn't seem to mind and were more interested in my experiences and my personality. Got a call a week later asking to set up an on-campus interview. The interviewer was the same man I spoke to at the career fair. He was very intelligent, young, and enthusiastic about Dow Chem. Made it seem like a great place to work. The interview itself was very regimented. The interviewer/recruiter had a packet, and on each page was a question and space for note taking. That part went very smoothly. There was also time for us to talk about my classes, how school was going, and about Dow as well. He answered all of my additional questions and clearly knew a lot about the company and had positive things to say about what it is like being an employee. I was told that they would get back to me within two weeks. Didn't hear anything at the end of two, so I sent an inquiry email. A week later I got a generic email response saying they were finishing up the selection process and would have a decision by the next week. So, four weeks after the interview, I got a phone call with a job offer, followed by an email with the official offer. Advice: Be personable. It seems that they value employees that will fit in and will work well in a team. They didn't care too much about my one poor grade and focused more on what I liked to do, and what experiences had prepared me for a co-op position.
