      Candidatura

Ho presentato la mia candidatura online. La procedura ha richiesto 2 giorni. Ho sostenuto un colloquio presso EQ New York (New York, NY) nel mese di mar 2013

      Colloquio

The first step is a very short interview. They interview a ton of people, so it only lasts, at most, 5 minutes. It's very impersonal, and really about wowing them in a very short amount of time. The second step is basically an all day (2pm-9pm) job shadow. Up until this point the job posting and first interview talk about "events" they do. It's not until the second part, the job shadow, that it's revealed that "events" are really door-to-door sales. In the job shadow they ask many hard hitting questions to see if you're leadership material and if you possess an entrepreneurial spirit. If you don't want to be basically a door-to-door solicitor, this job is not for you (as it wasn't for me). They take a break and discuss compensation. Based on their averages of performance, it is not a lot of money. More money can be made in very basic jobs, like retail where at least you're not canvassing various neighborhoods. It's perfect for someone in college. The third step is an interview with the office manager. This is only based off a 5 minute debriefing from the person you shadowed during the day. In this interview they've already made their decision somewhat, but is more for you to ask questions. They were going to offer me the position, but didn't like that I needed at least a couple hours to think about that. So as a result they flipped the coin on me and basically guilt tripped me; demeaning my experience they were just talking so highly of, and as if they're the only people that would ever hire me. They are very vague on what the actual job entails, and don't seem to understand that a 6 hour immersion into door-to-door field work is quite overwhelming when nothing they ever said or their website or Facebook shows. I also think the interview process is quite impersonal. One person decides if you make it to round 2, round 2 is a person that doesn't know you or your experience beforehand, and step 3 (the ultimate decision) is made by a person that was just given a 5 minute review of you by someone. Not to mention, whenever they call you it sounds like they're literally reading from a script. If you like door-to-door sales, commission only work, and are one of the entitled youth that think they deserve to retire at 35 and must own their own business, then EQ is meant for you.
