Becoming a Financial Advisor with Edward Jones is a lengthy process, and for good reason. After filling out an initial online application, I was invited to phone screen within a day and scheduled one for about two weeks later. Mostly behavioral questions (i.e. "tell me about a time when...") were asked during the screen, which lasted for about 45 minutes. Following this (about two days later), I was asked to submit a fuller application, upon completion of which I scheduled a one-on-one interview in person at a nearby branch to be held in two weeks' time. The interviewer was very informative, personable, and showed well the human side of the financial advisor role. After getting the green light for completing this successfully, I was invited to complete a business plan within a week's time. I declined to do this, as I began to feel that the career would not be the best fit for me personally. However, all interviewers and recruiters acted with the utmost in professionalism, kindness, and helpfulness, and showed Edward Jones to be a quality company. Several opportunities for relationship-building with current advisors were extended as well, and were great opportunities to learn more about the culture and job.

Interview process first consists of numerous dinner events, all very laid back where you get to learn more about the company and the advisors in the region, and they get to learn more about you. If you keep getting invited back to dinners, consider it progress in the interview process. Honestly, the best, most effective interview process.

it's a series of interviews with people in the office then a full-day of simulating the role of the advisor where you're receiving calls from clients and team mates as well as receiving emails. As a career-changer, this was the part of the interview phase where I realized Edward Jones wasn't the right start to my career as a financial advisor and ended up going somewhere that invested in my growth rather than a "sink or swim" type of place.
