The hiring process is fairly lengthy but they are upfront with everything and how long it will take. After floating a resume to them via website or a current FA (my case) you will be invited to fill out an application. The application is very involved and it took me a week to get all the information. Past salaries, contacts of previous employers, accomplishments and primary duties among others is required.
If your app is approved it is followed by a phone interview with a HR rep. I thought this interview was pretty easy and was based mostly around your knowledge of the job which they provide to you before the interview. At the end of the interview I invited to the next face-to-face interview with a Senior FA.
This interview for me was basically a BS session. I assume they just wanted to make sure was someone they wanted to hangout with. FA made a point to ask me why would I want to do something as hard as this. He really hammered the point that point but otherwise it last almost 2 hours and was a piece of cake.
Next day I received an e-mail inviting me to fill out a business plan and to do a door-to-door survey. For many this is the nut cutter. I just decided nothing was going to stand in my way, took a deep breath and knocked on the door. 2 hours later I had my completed survey and yes my dignity was still in tact. Let me take the time to say that all the negative reviews of this exercise are ridiculous. What do you expect this is a sales job! EJ is not going to use the contacts and if you can't grow a pair and knock on a door for the chance to make a 6-digit salary you need to move on.
After I e-mailed back my 2 projects within 3 hours I received an invitation to my 3rd and final interview. This time with a HR manager. It was almost entirely behavior based and was definitely the hardest of the 3. At the end he asked me if I had any questions and he said an online Virtual Assessment and promptly scheduled it for me 4 days later.
The Virtual Assessment was interested and a I think a good exercise to tell EJ if you have the right stuff. I cannot go into the details as you have to sign a non-disclosure to do it.....sorry guys. Honestly though if you get to this point you probably have what it takes to do it so when the assessment starts don't waste time, start dialing!
Within a day of the assessment ending I received a phone call telling me an offer was headed my way via e-mail. Whole process took about 30 days. For me the longest was the application!
After accepting offer I had to do a drug test, get finger printed and I had to disclose a bunch things about finances, legal issues and work experiences.

I guess I was prepared so none of the questions were really hard. I have been in the work force for over 20 years to include management experience so I had many events to chose from to answer questions about failures, conflicts and successes.

Interview process first consists of numerous dinner events, all very laid back where you get to learn more about the company and the advisors in the region, and they get to learn more about you. If you keep getting invited back to dinners, consider it progress in the interview process. Honestly, the best, most effective interview process.

it's a series of interviews with people in the office then a full-day of simulating the role of the advisor where you're receiving calls from clients and team mates as well as receiving emails. As a career-changer, this was the part of the interview phase where I realized Edward Jones wasn't the right start to my career as a financial advisor and ended up going somewhere that invested in my growth rather than a "sink or swim" type of place.

Interview process is very lengthy. 6 steps, very in depth. HR screening, in person interview, 1 year plan, day in the life role play (3 hours long) where you had to call actors who were playing clients and prospects
