Ho presentato la mia candidatura online. La procedura ha richiesto 2 settimane. Ho sostenuto un colloquio presso Embark Solar (Brooklyn, NY) nel mese di lug 2018
Colloquio
Started as canvasser. After 4 months before they gave me a chance to manage my own team. My work spoke for itself but it was a big leap for me. I was so happy Embark trusted me to do that.
My outreach director interview focused technical side of team management and workflow. Also a ton of questions about the details and ops side of solar projects so I could help our team finish projects well.
We did two sessions that week and they reviewed. They gave me an answer a week later. I so pumped!!

When a person you manage struggles, what would your process for supporting them to improve performance be?

Colloquio
The interview process for this company is very unorthodox and in my opinion amateurish. Certain members of the Embark Solar staff hold themselves to a very high standards but unfortunately there are some individuals in leadership positions who seem very scattered and unprofessional.
My first interaction with a member of the interviewing staff was over the phone and after a very insightful discussion we moved forward to meeting up face to face.
This face to face interview was not conducted in an office, as the company to the best of my knowledge currently has no permanent office space. I arrived 10 minutes early with my resume in hand and was left waiting as the 2 employees who were tasked with interviewing me were 30 and 45 minutes late to the interview. Not only did these employees arrive late but they were busy running in and not of the coffee shop 'dealing with another employee'. When we did eventually begin to talk about my future with Embark I was told that the position I was applying for was only left on their website to draw in talent of a higher caliber and that they did not see the necessity for filling that position for 8-10 months. I was told that the position they would offer me would be a lesser one that what was applying for. My time was not respected during this interview and the conversation was not incredibly productive, as we seemed to be talking in circles for the majority of the rest of our time together.
I was then contacted 2 weeks later by a member of Embark Solar's staff about scheduling a re-interview because of how hectic the original interview was. Being that I am a forgiving person and I understand that everyone has bad days, I obliged.
Much to my dismay this re-interview was even less productive. I received a spreadsheet regarding the position that I was being offered, Senior Solar Energy Advisor, and prepared a number of questions for Embark Solar's leadership. We met at a bar in the Williamsburg area which at first was quaint and a constructive area for conversation but quickly turned into a rambunctious party scene in which no proper discussion could take place. We then walked to another bar and continued the interview process but by this time some of the employees had consumed a number of drinks and the conversation turned a bit hostile regarding personal issues between myself and this company.
1 week passed and I heard back from an Embark Solar staff about setting up a phone call. I gave times that would work for me but the staff could not nail down an interview time and instead I was asked to call them the following day. I did not, I have no plans to call this company and instead choose to take my talents elsewhere.
