Overall, the interview process is very drawn out and requires a significant time investment on the part of the candidate. To be fair, it is described accurately in the job description. There just should be more feedback and less waiting between "events." For me, the process took eight weeks from application to rejection, and I never made it to the take-home assignment and final interview. I did, however, spend a few hours on interviews and assessments plus an entire weekend preparing for the “role-playing” challenge, for which I was rewarded with a two-line “thank you for your time” email two days later. I understand the need to vet employees and concede that I didn’t have the needed experience with the Microsoft technology stack or eCommerce for the role. Still, dragging candidates along for months while requiring them to prepare presentations and code on their own time is a little lazy in my books. Note that the only feedback I received between the stages was that I was being scheduled for the next one until I wasn’t. I advise others to make sure that Emergent is your dream job before applying; regardless of whether they ultimately hire you, it’s probably going to be a long haul.
