After applying online, I received a cold call from a recruiter who wanted to talk about the role. We had a brief conversation and then he said I would hear from another recruiter who would set up a time for me to do a video interview with a panel of interviewers. He also said the hiring manager was very motivated and that they expected to wrap all interviews within a week and make an offer, which sounded like a pretty loose process. I participated in a video interview later that week. The panel included the hiring manager and two others. They allowed me to introduce myself and then each of them took turns reading from a script of behavioral interview questions, many of which had no direct connection to the role. A week later, I asked for an update. No response. Then another week later, I asked for an update and was told by the recruiter that she was still waiting to hear from the hiring manager. Then, a day later, I received an automatic rejection email.
