      The hiring manager canceled a couple of times and then was 15 minutes late on the call. It started off well enough until we hit two questions—compensation and job role. When I asked about the role, she became audibly agitated and said it's all in the job req. Since she was the hiring manager and not HR, I fully expected she'd go into a little more detail—in regards to email cadence, whether there's more editing than writing or just about anything else that would be helpful to know. That didn't happen but an attitude problem did. Red flag #1. Red flag #2 came when she asked expected salary. Since this was a more senior position and a dual role, I gave her a range based on that. I was in the same exact position prior and know a few people and gave a reasonable range. She verbally dismissed me and told me others had told her $20k less. If it was strictly social media or strictly copy, I would have agreed but she was hostile towards me because they preferred to underpay. While the concept of the company is great, my experience dealing with the hiring manager left me sour. Stick with Warby Parkers for a true customer experience.
