Was Invited to a 2nd Round Interview, Started Working on a Project, and Then Told I Was Invited to the 2nd Round by Mistake I was genuinely excited about the possibility of working here. Unfortunately, the interview process was extremely disorganized and left a poor impression. - I applied for the role - A day later, I was asked to complete a questionnaire - 2 weeks later, I was invited to a 1st round panel interview with 2 team members. - About a week later, I followed up and was told that I would be invited to round 2 and would receive a formal invitation soon. - A few days later, I received the formal invitation for the a 2nd round interview, along with instructions to complete an interview project beforehand. The instructions stated I'd receive an email granting me access to a test event, which was required to complete the project. - We scheduled the 2nd round interview and I received a Zoom calendar invite, in which the panel attendees responded with "Yes" to the calendar invite. This panel included the same 2 people from the 1st round plus 2 others. - I began working on the project immediately, but after a few days, I still hadn't received access to the test event, so I followed up as I needed access to make further progress. - An hour after that follow up, I received an email saying that I was invited to the 2nd round by mistake and that I was no longer moving forward. This was disappointing, not just because I didn't get the role, but because I invested significant time and energy into the project and prepping for the 2nd round. No meaningful explanation was provided for how this mistake happened, despite the fact that multiple people on the team had responded with "Yes" to the calendar invite (which included the same 2 people I've interviewed with in the 1st round). This not only wasted my time but also created a frustrating and disheartening candidate experience. For a mistake like this to occur, it would mean multiple people and every panelist who responded "Yes" to the calendar invite all missed it for days, even after sending me the project instructions and scheduling the meeting. This series of events demonstrates that the company is very disorganized and lacks clear internal communication.
