The process was straightforward. After applying for a while, HR contacted me to schedule an interview with the manager.
The interviewer, who has been with the company for 15 years, seemed unusual for the role. It was odd to have a business person interview a technical candidate, as she appeared to lack in-depth knowledge in the technical area. She asked me to explain my experience, so I described my work with GCP (GCS, Data Fusion, BigQuery, Looker Studio). When she inquired about scripting, I clarified she meant SQL, though I had already mentioned working with BigQuery. She also asked about ADF, and when I confirmed that it referred to Azure Data Factory, she seemed unsure.
Despite explaining my reasons for leaving each previous position, she asked again about my departure from each company, suggesting she hadn’t fully listened to my earlier answers.
The interview felt awkward due to our lack of mutual understanding. The most frustrating moment was when she asked about my 'DevOps'. I initially thought she was referring to programming development, which I lack experience in, but she meant Development Opportunities or Weaknesses, a term I hadn’t encountered in that context before. Both of us seemed eager for the session to end, as she kept asking if I had any questions.
