      Colloquio per Marketing Representative

      Dipendente anonimo

      Offerta accettata
      Esperienza negativa

      Candidatura

Ho presentato la mia candidatura online. La procedura ha richiesto 2 giorni. Ho sostenuto un colloquio presso FYPM Group (Long Island City, NY) nel mese di ago 2018

      Colloquio

First, the job post claimed that they are looking for "sports minded" applicants, adding that this job is "a valuable opportunity for those who have experience in sports marketing." What I soon found out is that they want you to sell Verizon Fios deals door-to-door. I'm not sure what one has to do with the other. I understand having a competitive mentality when it comes to sales, but it's fair to say that this position was falsely advertised. I was then taken on a walk to a nearby Dunkin' Donuts (they actually offered to pay my parking meter, which was nice, but still a bit weird), where I was given a timeline of what is expected over the course of the year, with projected salaries labeled at each step in the process. I'm not sure why the interview couldn't be done in the office (just like every other job). It came off as a bit unprofessional. The shadiest part of the entire process was when I was asked (as we were walking back to the office) what my parents would think if I took a job "like this." Immediately, an alarm went off in my head. It made the job seem as though it was dirty and sketchy. He told me that he wasn't the one who would make the hire, yet within five minutes of being back in the office, I sat with the CEO and he offered me the position without any dialogue or discussion. And to make things even sketchier, the CEO showed me a copy of his daily schedule, as though to try and verify that he's legitimate (shouldn't it be the other way around?). All three people that I was in the room with at the time of the hire seemed awkward, almost as though they were pulling something over me as they shook my hand and offered me the position. As I left, one of the hiring managers gave me his number and literally wrote an entire paragraph as I stood right in front of him, and said (I'm paraphrasing) "I just sent you my number. Sorry, it took so long. I just wanted to make it a good text message." When a company has to sell you this hard to get a job, you know something is not right. And after going home and reading reviews, half of them talking about how this company is a scam, I could see what they meant. Bad experience. I moved on.
