      Candidatura

Ho presentato la mia candidatura online. La procedura ha richiesto un giorno. Ho sostenuto un colloquio presso FareHarbor (Denver, CO) nel mese di mar 2015

      Colloquio

I recently interviewed and was offered a position at Fareharbor, however a last minute change by the company has made my experience extremely negative. I am writing this review to warn others. The position I interviewed for was located in Denver and I am an out of state candidate. After receiving my Resume, I was offered a Skype interview, which I completed. It lasted about 45 minutes and was very informal. I had asked many questions in order to get a feel for the company and the responsibilities of the role. The responses were okay, but never super detailed. I had also asked what the interview process was like and what next steps would be. I was told "we wouldn't just hire someone after 1 conversation" but was then offered a role shortly after. I'm not sure if this is because the team initially connected with me, but the fact that they mentioned they wouldn't hire someone off of 1 interview alone, then offered be a job seemed strange. Again, I am an out of state so after receiving an email offer, with minimal information, I suggested that I first visit the office before making such a big decision. No financial assistance was offered, though I had mentioned the trip would be expensive on such short notice. None the less, I felt it was beneficial for both parties to meet in person before committing to one another. I then paid for a flight, hotel, and car 100% out of pocket and scheduled to meet with the team upon my arrival. They are currently are located in a very small and old office building. There were no signs for the company nor any indication (outside of the physical address I was provided) that would show their support team is headquartered there. During conversation, answers to my more detailed questions were very scattered and hardly specific. I sat in the only conference room for an hour discussing the current team, other departments, and the salary/benefits they offered. When I asked specifically about their salary structure and details regarding benefits, I received a blank stare and was not provided with meaningful nor specific details. the explanation for their salary structure was that "they are a small start up and things change often, one day the salary could be one number and the next it could be another." 1 hour after I left, I received an email stating "circumstances had changed and they were no longer able to offer me a position with the company." While I was on the fence with the prior information I received, I still felt it was necessary that the team follow up with more specific details as to why they had changed their mind, so quickly, given the lengths I had gone to ensure I was a fit for the company and they were a fit for me. I emailed back asking for specifics on why this last minute change of had occurred, twice, and received no response. While I understand things can change quickly while in the midst of an interview/ job offer process, I was incredibly shocked at the lack of detail, professionalism, integrity, and empathy they exhibited toward a candidate they had already offered a position to. I wondered what would have happened had I moved, across the country, only to begin working at a company that, in the end, revoked a job offered. Luckily, I knew better than to do that, but I would definitely offer that others take what they say with a grain of salt. I don't deny that they are a small, growing company, who still may developing their policies and procedures but my experience was completely horrifying. Unless you are looking for ANY type of work, I would absolutely not recommend trying to get a job or working here. You will be left in the hands of leaders that have 0 experience managing teams and processes and with policies (or lack there of) that change instantly. My experience was totally unorganized only goes to show what it would actually be like to work there. I'm fine with being rejected from roles because I am not a fit. However, my experience was different and the last minute changed seemed to be because I had asked questions that made the inexperienced leaders feel uncomfortable and intimidated. This is no way to screen candidates and certainly, once you offer someone a role, I would think you would be 100% confident in your decision so as to avoid this exact situation. None the less, even when things do change I've experienced a higher level of integrity from much smaller companies, so Fareharbor truly has no excuse. I wish the company well and I do believe they will eventually succeed. However, I feel the team they have now coupled with their extreme lack of organization and vision will ultimately be detrimental. Future candidates and employees beware, you may be setting yourself up for what you thought was an amazing opportunity, only to find you are left in the dust, picking up pieces from a company whom you are more than disposable to.
