The funny thing is - I read the previous interview synopsis with the warning about doing free work, and I did it anyway. My bad. *First interview was virtual via Zoom. The conversation lasted a little over 30 minutes, and it felt very much like a good chat. For the 2nd interview, I was given an assignment (AKA free work). The assignment was described as a way to learn about my thought process. *I was invited to visit their offices to meet the whole team. WARNING: they're located in the Skid Row section of DTLA. Street parking was sparse, but there were a few lots nearby. Finesse offered to reimburse any parking expenses. *Met with everyone on the team, with the exception of the CEO. Smart group of people with tons of great experience. Chatted with three people, and they were all nice / engaging. *Main meeting was held with the hiring manager, during which we reviewed my assignment (AKA free work). *Was told during the meeting that we would not be moving forward. It was done in an extremely professional manner, but it was still jarring. *Even after I was told that I wouldn't be given an offer, the hiring manager continued to ask questions about my assignment. And, like an idiot, I stayed to discuss my findings in greater detail. moral of the story: don't do free work. As for the overall business model (sustainable fast fashion): in the short amount of time, it became obvious that they're winging it. I've posted a copy of the assignment

FINESSE Operations Take-Home Challenge Establishing a Robust, Innovative Supply Chain Company Goal & Context To capitalize on the timing of trends, FINESSE needs to employ a tight supply-chain that stays as close to the trends as possible. This case study focuses on engineering the supply chain from scratch to meet the outlined demands and limitations of the system. Description of Requirements Please establish a supply-chain plan of your choice - in the document format(s) of your choice - that satisfies the following: ● The algorithm surfaces an image of the outfit to be reproduced. The image of the outfit to be produced is received on Sunday of Week 1, which denotes Day 0 of the month. The supply-chain needs to be robust enough to produce all garments shown in the images (found on page 2). Accessories do not need to be included. ● The supply-chain can produce (manufacturing) one entire outfit (3 separate styles / SKUs) within 10 days. All styles need to undergo full development (including fitting), manufacturing and logistics, reaching the customers’ doorstep within the 4 weeks. Feel free to research the particularities of this process and ask for clarifications on FINESSE’s capabilities. State your assumptions where necessary. ● Manufacturing needs to be small-batch and dynamic, rather than large-batch. ● The supply-chain needs to be robust and account for vendor failures. State your assumptions and findings where necessary. ● Development, fabric sourcing and production / manufacturing can each or all be implemented in the following locations: United States, South Korea, Vietnam, China, Turkey. Please state clearly which country(s) you decided to execute in and why. ● Warehousing, Fulfillment and Logistics can be implemented in the following locations: United States, China, Mexico, Canada, Europe. Please state clearly which location(s) you decided to execute in which country and why. ● Please create a model that attempts to capture the overall unit economics of the recommended system reliant on your research. Keep in mind that the effect of international logistics should be captured within the unit economics. ○ Start at 12,000 orders per month and 2.5 units per order growing at 15% month over month. ○ Elaborate on how your system will scale in the next 6 and 12 months - including potential expansions of the team, vendor changes, and structural system changes. ○ State your assumptions where necessary. ● At each step, consider environmental impact and social sustainability - remark on any decisions you make that may have an impact on each. Deliverables The deliverable format is completely up to you. The deliverables should include, however: ● An execution plan with commentary (powerpoint, Gantt Chart, plain text or whatever else you prefer) ● A unit economics model as outlined above Notes This exercise is intended mostly to give an idea of how you approach engineering a system from scratch, research its particularities and think about its maintainability, scalability and profitability. I’m more interested in seeing your process and structure as there is no one right answer. The documents should give us a great foundation for our follow-up call at which point you can walk me through your reasoning and deliverables step-by-step. Most importantly, have fun and don’t hesitate to ask any questions! Sample Outfit Images ADDITIONAL QUESTION Please answer in short-paragraph format the following questions below: If you could improve one thing about FINESSE right now - as you experience it - what would it be and why? Your plane crashes and you land on an island. What do you do? How do you plan your survival? What matters to you most and why?

I applied through LinkedIn. First interview was with the head of department as a initial screening to discuss background, role, and the company. I was then assigned a project to complete within a week. Second round of interviews was in-person meeting with 4 people to meet the team and review my project. Three people from the product team and the CEO. The process of meeting with 4 people was exhausting and repetitive. The company invited me to dinner that lasted till 11pm at night (My interview started at 2pm). I received a job offer almost 3 months later and offered an extremely low salary for the amount of experience I have. My advice is to ask about salary in the initial interview as they seem to lowball you and try to lure you with the shares they offer each employee. And also to be prepared for a lengthy interview process. After meeting with the team and the CEO, it seems like the company is chaotic and unorganized.
