I was thinking about this today when I saw an email from Glassdoor so I thought I'd share my experience so far for other potential employees who care about important things like this, because in my opinion salary should be listed on every job posting. I'm still a relatively new employee so I'm still learning about the company itself, but wanted to share my experience about the lack of pay transparency I've seen so far. In my first interview with the internal recruiter they made me tell how much money I wanted, and wouldn't tell me the pay range for the position I was applying for, even though they couldn't answer some of the questions I had about the position. My offer letter then ended up being exactly the number I threw out before having a full understanding of the position, company, and their "above average" wages. Since receiving the offer letter and after my hire date, three different people have avoided answering my questions about pay range. I'm happy with my pay if I just look at numbers (after factoring in the budget for my twice a year bonus) but have no idea what's "average" for the company or what to expect down the road.
