Loved the recruiting team. I was balancing a couple interviews/offers and they worked with me to get through the process quickly.
They first sent me over a take home test that was relatively straight forward. Took me a few hours to complete. Shortly after I sent it in, they graded it and asked to set up a video interview.
Interview itself was tricky. It was a couple of case questions asking about how you would evaluate a data set. The questions were very general/broad, which made them difficult to answer confidently. You have to make a lot of assumptions, which you typically want to avoid in this type of role. The interviewer seemed to be trying very hard to follow a template instead of just having a conversation. They were nice though and answered all my questions.
Didn't make it to the next round, but have no hard feelings.

You're given a new data set, how do you evaluate it for data quality? What variables do you think would be most important to check? What type of analysis would you do to measure *variable* against *variable*? What does the p-value indicate if significant?

After being contacted by a recruiter form Flatiron, we set up a time to speak on the phone. Was asked to submit an online application and received a data test from Flatiron a couple days later.

I was contacted by a third party recruiter and it sounded like a great company. The interview process itself, however, was horrible. I was first given a quant test - in which you use a statistical programming language to answer some questions based on sample data. The test itself was really basic - required minimal data manipulation and not heavy on stats. I liked this approach and we follow a similar style in my company.
Next, I was scheduled to speak with a quant analyst via Skype. She seemed uninterested and a wee bit rude from the start of the interview - it did not go well. I received an automated rejection after a week. I probably would not have continued even if they were interested.
Some unsolicited advice: I've interviewed with many companies in the past, and also conduct interviews myself. It is integral to make your candidate feel comfortable, you will then bring out the best in the candidate. Arrogance and disinterest are a huge turn off.

Nothing too technical. I assumed that it would be more like a conversation about the company and the day-to-day of the position. That was not the case.
