I was contacted by a headhunter for this role in summer 2025, despite not actively looking. Initial interviews took place in October, after which the process effectively stalled.
Following the early rounds, I was told interviews were being “paused” and that I would be contacted to reschedule. That never happened. Weeks went by with no communication. I eventually had to reach out myself to get any update, and the explanations provided did not align with what actually occurred. Communication between the company and the headhunter was consistently poor, and that confusion was passed directly onto candidates.
The process dragged on for months with long stretches of silence, shifting narratives, and no clear ownership. Some interviewers were thoughtful and professional, but others seemed disconnected from the role or unclear on expectations. Overall, it felt like internal indecision rather than a structured hiring process.
This is a startup that was acquired by MassMutual, and that dynamic was evident in the interviews. The product value proposition felt underdeveloped, and there was limited clarity around differentiation, target customer, or growth strategy. That lack of clarity showed up not just in the product discussion, but in the hiring process itself.
After months of inactivity, I later saw the same role reposted by the headhunter on LinkedIn in winter 2025, despite having never received feedback or closure from the company. That reinforced the sense that candidates’ time was not being treated seriously.
There may be good people at the company, but the interview experience was disorganized, opaque, and disrespectful of candidates’ time. I would not recommend engaging unless you are prepared for a prolonged process with weak communication and unclear direction.
