Typical recruiter phone screen. She was very nice, but did not seem very familiar with product management. First interview was with with hiring manager and a key stakeholder/ partner on the business side. Interview was typical behavioral questions that they took turns asking. I have very applicable experience that they were impressed with and it went very well. I moved on to next and seemingly final round with Sr. Director and things went off the rails. He showed up 5 minutes late. He clearly had not reviewed my resume prior to joining and after a quick scan he said he sees nothing that qualifies me for this role. I mentioned the experience that I thought was applicable and was the focus of the conversation in the previous interview. He disagreed that this was relevant so I asked him to tell me what he was looking for so I could address his concerns. He had no clear answer and rambled some things very specific to auto industry. I explained that I felt that my consumer-facing product experience was still highly relevant. I felt he was just arguing with me and maintaining professionalism was difficult. I finally cracked and after 15 minutes I told him, professionally, that he should really align with his team because this whole interview process seemed like a giant waste of time for everybody. He abruptly hung up. Wow! Glad I don't work for this guy!
