After applying for the position, I got an email asking for a good time to conduct a phone interview which lasted around 30 minutes. My interviewer was very friendly and I enjoyed speaking with her. A week later, I was made the offer to intern with them in the city for the summer. However, with the pandemic, many things were up in the air. After 8 weeks from getting the email offer, I contacted them multiple times over 4 weeks to extend any help and to ask about any updates about the internship, just in case I needed to start applying elsewhere. I mentioned that I totally understood if the internship was not possible, but I wanted to make sure we were on the same page. After 8 weeks of not hearing from them or even an acknowledgement of my emails, an unpaid virtual position was offered, which I also accepted. I should have seen this as a red flag as an events company should never "ghost" anyone, especially someone they had extended a position to. After accepting and asking follow-up questions, I never heard from them again. I was excited to work with such a cool events company, and I am sure they are an amazing team for their clients. I am disappointed at how unprofessional they were at handling communication with me.
