A recruiter contacted me on LinkedIn who was transparent about the pay range and job responsibilities. During a phone call with her, I confirmed my pay requirements were at the higher end of the range and she agreed that was OK then sent my resume over. The first round was with who would be the direct manager and immediately after the recruiter contacted me to move forward with round 2. Before round 2, she asked me to apply directly on the company site, where the pay range max exceeded the amount disclosed to me initially despite being overqualified. Round 2 began with a phone call with someone from HR about benefits in greater detail (direct-hire). She mentioned that the advertised pay range on their internal application portal was wrong and wouldn't even go up to the top of the range shared with me by the recruiter originally. Part 2 of round 2 included others in leadership alongside the boss and I could tell the work culture was bad (particularly bad for a full-time remote job). They wanted to move forward with me for a final round of interviews but I declined.
