Long wait from initial application, had a call with internal recruitment I stated my salary expectations were 75k and was told that could be accommodated. After a phone interview then a 3 week wait for the f2f I was made an offer of £60k + 12k bonus I negotiated and the bonus was upped to £25k. I accepted the offer verbally then was told after chasing for an update that this wasn’t within budget and the offer was now £45k. Plus £10k. I turned another job down in the intervening period. Apparently the budget was only ever that amount and they could not get an increase. The lack of professionalism to make an offer that wasn’t signed off was disappointing however it gave me an insight into the organisation and I’m thankful that I didn’t join. The people interviewing were very nice however, but the budgetary issues and lack of transparency nearly had a very damaging impact. Thankfully I have been offered another role for a lot more money with a much bigger company.
