In my opinion not that professional, you may still need to know the hiring person, which was the case in my situation, not sure on how it goes with other interviews ... a lot of openings are filled immediately by the GE folks, outsiders do not get that so easily

Multi-step. Recruiter, manager, and panel of peers. It took around 2 months to complete and fairly straight forward. The next steps were communicated and interviewers respectful. Would try to land a role again the future.
