I spent nearly a full day interviewing and prepping with several people across multiple hours at GSD&M. We had a mutual connection who put me in touch with the team and the process initially felt very positive - the CMO expressed interest in discussing salary, and even brought up the possibility of touring the agency. Based on the tone and direction of those conversations, I genuinely believed things were moving forward.
This communication began on October 2nd and continued for weeks. When I followed up twice regarding the salary conversation, the tone suddenly shifted. I was told they were still interviewing other candidates. I followed up Since then, I’ve followed up two more times with no response at all.
In a very tough job market, this experience ended up hindering my job search because-shame on me-I let myself get excited and invested based on the enthusiasm and signals I received throughout the process. To be left with no update or closure after about a month and a half was extremely disappointing.
I understand teams are busy, timelines change, and hiring can be unpredictable, but basic follow-up or a simple status update would have gone a long way. Candidates invest real time, energy, and hope into these processes, and a lack of communication reflects poorly on the experience.
