Colloquio
Had a phone screen before meeting the recruiting team at the National Black MBA event. Very professional team always trying to gauge if there is a culture match. The Managers overseeing recruiting were very communicative, open and friendly to say the least. The moment I talked to the recruiting head, I knew this was the company for me.
The next call was for a day long flyback at their HQ. The interview was with Directors and VP's. Again General Mills tries to make it as comfortable as possible. The tour around the office was great. Facilities on campus were better than most peer companies. Interviews are mostly about whether the company can relate to you on a one on one basis.
Very accomodative and one can be sure that the recruiting team is batting for you at every step.

Tell me about a time when you mentored someone in your career.
I recently interviewed for the Associate HR Manager Internship role with General Mills. I have been so pleased with how intentional General Mills has been about managing to the candidate experience. From the interview to the follow through. Even after the extension of an offer, there has been no unwarranted pressure to make a quick decision. Instead, they want to ensure that you as a candidate are 100% confident about your decision when you come on board. The positive experience and the interactions that I have had with employees within the company, has further affirmed my interest. It is evident why General Mills continues to be successful at both attracting and retaining top talent.

Colloquio
There was a phone screen interview. The first phase interview was at a university job fair. The second phase interview was half a day with three different interviewers for 30 minutes each. They were very intentional about explaining the benefits of working for General Mills. The visit was pleasant. Everyone was very welcoming.

The questions were mostly behavioral (about 90%) and required a very structured response format such as the STAR. It's a long morning and the questioning process gets tiring. My advice is to brush up on the STAR format and be very prepared with examples ready to go so that you do not have to think on the fly.
