I went in for an interview, I got asked maybe 1 or 2 questions, and then the rest of the time was spent with them trying to advertise the position to me and a tour of the lab. I was immediately offered a job trial the next day. The job trial was basically an excuse for unpaid labour for 8 hours. We did not get to show many of our skills and did basic tasks like loading the scanner and filing slides for record keeping. The only 'legit' part of the trial was right at the start when we were shown a bit of the system and specimen reception (maybe 1-2 hours). We were unsupervised for most of the day and expected to do these little housekeeping lab activities instead of either showcasing our skills or being trained. At the end of the day, we were then asked to come for another day of unpaid work during which they promised we would then finally get to show our more technical skills on the microtome or learning sectioning. After mentioning I would need the invite for the second day of the job trial in writing, they changed tone and suddenly didn't need me to do a second trial asap and wanted to wait a week or two, and then advised me I had been unsuccessful who he as expected. Please avoid this company at all costs as it seems they don't have an actual position on offer and are just trying to get through some busy weeks using unpaid labour of "prospective employees".
