Colloquio per Manager, Digital Marketing Analysis

      16 gen 2015

      Candidatura

Ho presentato la mia candidatura online. La procedura ha richiesto 2 settimane. Ho sostenuto un colloquio presso Getty Images nel mese di gen 2015

      Colloquio

A few weeks after applying for this position on LinkedIn, they sent an email asking for a time to call me. We set up a phone interview time and they called me as we agreed. The HR representative was cold, impersonal, and not charming. She seemed intent to screen and move on to the next call. I'm sort of a big deal and didn't appreciate this approach. They are looking for an Masters in Mathematics, (I have that and an MBA.) They are looking for digital advertising analysis experience. (I have that, 15 years digital specific, 22 years total analysis experience.) They are looking for someone to create and develop critical reporting and data research elements. (I've developed this function for two companies, and I've authored three novels on the subjects of digital advertising algorithms, statistical process in digital advertising, and getting from data to actionable graphics, and I author two popular blogs specific to the data science industry.) I'm not just qualified for the position, I help define the position and methodologies. Here's where it went wrong, aside from her attitude. The job title is "Manager" but they aren't looking for a manager. There is no department, no direct reports, no budgets, no control of policy and politics. Their title is hype. The position is in Seattle, WA. I live in Phoenix, AZ. My resume shows my Phoenix address, my telephone number is a Phoenix area code, and the HR Representative tells me there is no relocation package offered for the position. I told her they could either pay for the move and the relocation or provide me with a five year guarantee on the position and salary. She laughed. Poor screening and a total lack of professionalism on the HR function. And poor understanding of the role of a Digital Marketing Analysis, Manager.
