I applied online and was contacted to complete a 7-page design challenge within 7 days as the very first step of the hiring process. The assignment required designing multiple complex financial features, including wireframes, detailed interaction flows, components, elements of a design system, and extensive documentation. Based on my professional experience, completing this work to a reasonable standard would require several full-time weeks, not a single week. This raised serious concerns about the company’s hiring practices. The scope of the task suggests either a lack of understanding of the effort involved in quality design work or an attempt to extract substantial unpaid labor from candidates. I would strongly caution others against engaging in this process. The expectations are unrealistic, and the challenge appears to prioritize free work over a fair and respectful recruitment experience.

My impression is that it would take at least a couple of full-time weeks to get the job done. To me, this kind of challenge makes me completely distrust GoQuant. Either they are very ignorant and don't understand the amount of work involved, or they just want to take advantage of you and get top design work done for free. Both alternatives speak terribly of them.
