I am a big fan of this company but their interview process sucks big time. This company should really look into this.
I applied on instahyre. I got a mail from an HR (Lets name her K) sent a mail saying lets schedule a phone interview to discuss further. I was happy that I am getting a chance.
She didn't call on the scheduled time. I mailed her politely asking another date.
I didn't get any reply. I mailed her again after 3-4 days. No reply.
Mailed again. No Reply.
Almost 15-20 days went by. I contacted another HR (lets call him R) on linked in. He was a bit senior HR. I explained him the entire thing. Finally he started the process.
I got the first task which I had to complete within 2 days. I did the task and submitted the code.
I waited for 1 week to hear back from them. I reached out to R. It was new year at that time. So he told the team is on holidays etc.
So I reached out to R again after 7 days. (14 days after code submission). He told told that K was taking care of the profile.
After almost 2 weeks ( 30 days from code submission) I got a mail saying that I have cleared the task round. This time another HR (Lets call her N) contacted me.
She scheduled a phone interview round which I cleared . She told me that they would want me to travel to bangalore for the onsite interviews.
They arranged everything : flights, hotel and cabs. Thanks for that.
I gave all the rounds.. all of them were more into low level design, coding best practices and high level design.
They were no algo & DS question. I was surprised by that .. what I felt was that the focus was too much on best practices rather than analytical skills. Best practices can be taught in weeks.
I gave all the rounds but sadly I wasn't selected which is fine. May be I have to improve on some areas but don't you think I deserve to know which areas I should work on.
Checked with N regarding feedback. She told that K will give the feedback. Tried to follow up multiple times. It has been more than 20 days still no feedback.
the whole process was:
screening CV -> online coding test -> technical interview -> pair-programming -> bar raiser (hiring manager interview)
the gap between pair programming and bar raiser interviews could take up to a month. however, the wait was totally worth it as after receiving an offer, i got a chance to join their engineering boot camp.
There should be 4 steps, HR, Technical, EM, and User. But depends on your qualification, you can only meet 3 of them. Mostly discuss in English. There are interaction between you and employer/senior dev. Mostly discussing your skill.

Interviewed in Bangalore. Take home coding assignment, followed by video call review with engineer. Standard onsite process, 1 pair programming, 2 system design rounds. The interviewers expectation during system design isn't very clear compared to system design interviews in FAANG companies. Every interviewer has their own structure in which they drive the interviews.
