      Candidatura

Ho presentato la mia candidatura online. La procedura ha richiesto 2 mesi. Ho sostenuto un colloquio presso GrapheneDB (Barcellona) nel mese di gen 2019

      Colloquio

After an online application, I was quickly invited to a Google Hangouts introductory interview. It was a brief conversation consisting of very general questions about my previous work experience and software engineering processes. The interviewer also gave a quick overview of the company (how they operate, working conditions, etc). They looked legitimate at first, they even sent me an outline for the whole interviewing process, assuring that the process was going to be fast (they were aiming for the end of January). I was then asked to complete a coding test. Took them a day to send me the specs for the coding test, and looking at GitHub (where the specs are hosted), they finished it up a few minutes before emailing me them to me. I was apparently the earliest applicant. Initially, they gave me 6 days to finish it, but, for some reason, they extended my time allowance to 10 days just when I was finishing it. I submitted my solution the next day, early, anyway. I didn't take the task lightly. I created a full Scala/Play Framework Project, with unit tests, documentation (with UML diagrams, building, testing, and deployment instructions and everything). I even put screenshots showing the application in action. After about 3 days I didn't get any feedback or acknowledgment of my submission, so I emailed them (politely and tactfully) asking them for a confirmation that they received my submission. They did reply quickly and told me that they would give me some feedback by the end of the week (I inquired them on a Monday). More than one week later, I got no feedback, so, once again (politely and tactfully), I inquired about the status of my application. They asked me for an extra 5 days to review my solution and asked for salary expectations. That was unexpected since we indeed talked about salary expectations during the introductory interview and they said at the time that it was "doable". I asked them if they were still ok with my salary expectations. They replied 3 days later saying "Yes!", but no feedback on my coding test submission. Now we are almost at the end of February (two months since the interviewing process first started, the beginning of January). It's been two weeks after the last time I inquired about my application. I decided to give up on them. I'm not inquiring them any longer. Tired of inquiring these unconsidered people about the status of my application. I reckon this company might be fake. Don't waste your time applying, less yet completing the coding test.
