I recently started working with Gymshark in May 2021 as a Project Manager within their brand division.
Before joining Gymshark there were numerous stages to the interview, each stage was managed through a Talent Manager Trish Kennedy, which made things so easy as I had one point of contact to go to with any questions or queries.
After applying online I waited patiently and low and behold had an email around 2 weeks later from my talent manager Trish inviting me to take part in the next stage of the process, which was an online answer and questions session. It was super easy to complete which helped especially when trying to manage nerves at the same time. Once logged in, a question would appear on screen and you would record your answer of up to 2 mins long. There were approx. 4-5 questions to video record your answers too. But the system was easy to use, and you could even watch your replies back.
Around 2 weeks following this I had an email from my talent manager Trish to tell me I had been successful and was now invited along to the interview via zoom. I was super excited and followed the instructions on my email to book an interview slot online accordingly. Again this was super easy to do, and there were lots of slots available to choose from around my current job. I was also sent a Gymshark brief and asked to pull together 2 pieces for the interview; 1) a full timing plan for an GS campaign and 2) A presentation to talk through any questions regarding the brief, potential risks and challenges
The interview soon flew around, and I was faced with 4 people from GS; the Talent Manager - Trish, Program Manager - Jules Smith, Senior Campaign Manager - Sammie Jones and also Head of Strategic Projects - Andy Shaw. Having 4 people on the call at first felt daunting, however they all introduced themselves and made me feel super relaxed. I toplined my experience and then presented my timing plan and presentation, which I had 30mins for. The remaining 30mins consisted of the interviewers each asking a question or 2 around how I dealt with certain scenarios. They were all super friendly, and it felt more conversational which again helped me feel less nervous. At the end I had the opportunity to ask questions back, I had a list ready as was super interested in the role and wanted to ensure I fully understood it, but also I asked them what they love about Gymshark. It was great to hear their real life experiences, which just got me more excited.
3 days later I had a call from the talent manager confirming I had the job and she advised that a contract would follow. Everything did follow over the next week or 2 from Scott Balderson in the People Operations Team, all via email, and could also be completed online which made things easy with the pandemic . Being via email, made it quick to turn around, and no need to print anything out, which I liked! Scott was great and so quick at coming back with replies to my questions.
Having now joined and been here for 2-3 months I couldn’t feedback more positively. Not only was stage 1; the interview process simple and easy to do, but they follow with 8 days worth on onboarding when you start, which means you get to hear from all the different teams and understand who does what. This was super helpful and having worked in numerous different creative agencies, I have never had such a thorough onboarding experience.
One thing I was unsure of, was how quickly I would settle in with remote working. The PM team have made it so easy, we get together in the office on a Thursday which is nice, we have a weekly team quizzes which helps us all get to know each other better and see the real competitiveness in one another, and is always a good giggle! And my line manage Jules Smith had daily catchups with me to answer all the little things. The support from them all was great, and the support from the wider teams while you get up to speed has been super helpful.
There is so many more perks aswell as working with such great, bubble people. There is a 10/10 gym onsite, decked out better than any other gym I have ever seen! There are great discounts available to employees! 33 days holiday! And a quarterly bonus if targets are met.
I would recommend Gymshark to anyone considering a move into this industry.
