I applied for the position, and in less than a week I received an email from HR telling me that they wanted to set a phone interview.
I scheduled the phone interview for the following Monday at 10:00 AM. The interviewer did not call during the agreed time. I waited an hour, and nothing. I messaged them, asking them if they changed their minds or what happened (you know sometimes life happens). The interviewer said that the system double booked them, and he apologized for the situation. So we rescheduled for Wednesday.
Comes Wednesday, and the interviewer calls. We introduced each other, and then he starts to talk about a Decision Scientist position. I was confused because my assumption was that I was interviewing for a Data Scientist position considering that I applied for that position. They said that HEB only considers PhDs for Data Scientists, and since I had a Master's in Statistics I was best suited for Decision Scientist. Despite the fact that I qualified to the position based on the description. It was disappointing to say the least. If they didn't feel that I was suited for a Data Scientist position then they shouldn't have contacted me. We could have saved each other time and resources.
The interviewer tells me to contact them after the email, and then he ghosts me. The experience definitely changed my view about the company.
