I was called by a member of HR to schedule an interview for the position. The next week they flew me out to the Newport News Facility, put me in a hotel for the night, and paid for my rental car. I worried this would be another interview filled with mindless/fake behavioral interview questions that would not allow me to show my true colors, however I was wrong. It might have been the easiest interview I have ever had. The three gentlemen I met with were very welcoming in asking questions that were directly relevant to my resume which showed me they had a sincere interest in who I was and not just going through the motions of a regular interview. I may have lucked out in having some background in the maritime industry coming out of college but they loved what I brought to the table and they talked essentially for the whole interview. I was sent an email notifying me that an offer had been extended for my hiring within 24 hours of the interview. Overall great experience and I can't wait to get started working!

I was well qualified for several of their positions. I suspected that they were not interviewing me because I was Black. I had to trick them to get an interview. I tricked them by saying that my ethnicity was multi-race. (almost every American is Multi Racial). In the interview, there was was no question that I could not answer and showed a great deal of knowledge about their process. It was clear, after they saw that I was Black, there was nothing I could say that would convince them that I would be value added to their company. They acted as if I was going to be called by HR for on boarding and within a week I got an email that I was not chosen.
