I was contacted by the Human Resources department in North Carolina for a design position. After the initial phone interview; I was then set up to meet with the Creative Director in New York City. When I went to the interview, the Creative Director was out sick, so I met with the VP. The interview went well, though I did not have the exact background that they were seeking. The VP then asked me to submit a project with two innovations to the Hanes Comfort Waistband Series. I submitted the project within a week and have heard nothing back, not even a "thank you, but no thank you" email. I can respect the fact that I may not have been the match that they were looking for, but I do believe that there should be some consideration given when you ask a candidate to do a project. This company as well as others, would do well to respect the time, money, and energy that go into these "projects". Projects should only being given out as a means to make a final determination between a select few of individuals.
