3 stages to the process. First interview with HR, second a volunteer stint to visit elderly folks at an HDB estate with their youth volunteers, third interview with HR and someone of managerial position. For the volunteer stint, you're required to find your own transport to the location, and write a report to be submitted before the next interview (3rd stage). This obviously means the entire process is time consuming.
At the first interview, I was told that we can't have coloured hair because we are "working with students", which was an extremely judgmental and stereotypical discrimination of people with coloured hair, but I agreed to it on condition that I got the job.
At the volunteering location I saw that there were other candidates among the youth volunteers, there for the same reason as myself.
For the final interview they commented that my hair was still coloured, to which I said yes. They expect me to colour my hair when they didn't even give me a job? The managerial interviewer was insincere and inattentive throughout the interview, and even had coloured hair herself. Talk about double standards. While I was speaking, she was flipping through my documents non-stop and neither looking at me nor listening. She was not actually reading my documents either, which she should have done prior to the interview anyway, but clearly did not. She asked me things that were blatantly stated on my certs and even got my info wrong, such as my name and my institutions of education. So what was she flipping documents for, and the entire time? Utterly disrespectful and insincere as a person. She literally could not stop flipping through my docs again and again the entire duration of the interview. She also asked if I have mental illness which is irrelevant and illegal to ask in interviews. Asked more irrelevant questions about my field of study after asking me why I didn't do something related. She doesn't even know that her industry is directly related to my field of study.
I already knew that I wanted nothing to do with this person. Imagine working with her. Also, they call your referees even before the final interview. So they waste your referees' time in addition to wasting yours for a few WEEKS. Poor planning and lacks respect for others' time.
