I was initially contacted by a recruiter for an interview. The process started with a phone interview, followed by a video interview with another recruiter or the hiring manager. The questions were straightforward, mainly focusing on my resume. However, the discussion took an unpleasant turn when we talked about my desired salary. Despite being aware of my salary expectations beforehand, the interviewer questioned me aggressively about why my desired salary was high, seemingly trying to find a weakness in me by pointing out my number of years of experience. This raised a red flag for me. Additionally, my desired salary was not unreasonable considering the cost of living in my geographical location. If my salary expectations were outside their range, I don't understand why we proceeded with the interview only to confront me about it.
