Interviewed at research lab not on hhmi campus, so it's hard to say about hhmi interviews. For this lab the interview involved a presentation and talking to several people in the lab, and the PI.

Pretty normal for any academic institution. Dependent on individual group leaders or PI and their group culture, can't really compare bc of that. Lab I interviewed at was ok, but other friends had bad experiences.

The interview was set up to be a presentation of former projects (PhD studies), questions and discussion of potential future projects. Questions were easy and the setting informal. No stressful at all.
