Ho sostenuto un colloquio presso Huawei Technologies
Colloquio
I got contacted by the head of the lab, mentioning that I'd be a great fit for the team and they were excited to talk to me. The team works on Reinforcement Learning, but I have no experience on that, which made me suspicious: how can I be a great fit for the team? Have they even read my publications or did they just skimmed through my CV?
I got asked to complete a take home assignment, which was an implementation of a loss function for an LLM training pipeline. The assignment was easy and required no prior experience on the topic. It was also somewhat technical and purely implementation focused, without really allowing to showcase any particular skill. After submission of the take home assignment (which I believed went okay) I got ghosted, no reply to emails and no feedback whatsoever.
I find this incredibly rude, especially considering that the head of the team directly spoke to me and not through a recruiter, and considering that we exchanged several emails before the take home assignment and considering I had to spend 3h on the assignment. I have worked at Huawei before and this experience just confirms my previous thoughts on most people in the company: average at best, unprofessional and plain rude at worst.

They conducted a take home coding test and subsequent interview rounds in which they tested ML concepts. There was also a coding round with leetcode questions on linked list operations.

Why don’t you go and work for google and microsoft :D ? The interviewer seemed not interested in the interview while checking his laptop and joking about multi tasking
