Ho presentato la mia candidatura tramite l'università. La procedura ha richiesto 4 settimane. Ho sostenuto un colloquio presso IBM (Boston, MA) nel mese di nov 2017
Colloquio
I applied through my university, and a recruiter then reached out to me requesting to complete a HireVue challenge. It was a mix of behavioral questions, like "Why IBM?" and basic coding challenges. Email said to allot 3 hours, but it only took about 1.5.
After I passed the coding challenge, I had two video screens - one to talk about job fit (GUIDE) and one to assess coding competency (GURU). The Guide interview was more of a conversation and an IBMer giving me the opportunity to ask any questions that I had. The Guru interview was only one coding question and not terribly difficult.
After these were completed, I was invited to a Finish Line event in Boston, MA. It was apparently the first of the year, and the first time they were trying with a new format. The event lasted about 48 hours, and was designed to tell you about who IBM is and to sell you on the idea of what they are building via panels, talks, and a Finish Line challenge, which is completed in a team of 6. From the Finish Line event, it became very clear to me that IBM values their greatest asset - people, and spared no expense even for job candidates. From what I understand, almost everybody who went to the event received an offer.
The interview process was very dull, unenthusiastic, and impersonal. They asked very technical systems engineering questions, mostly focused on infrastructure, DevOps fundamentals, troubleshooting, and general backend/system design concepts. The interviewers did not seem particularly engaged, and the conversation felt more like a checklist than a real discussion about the role, team, or candidate fit.
There was not much effort to explain the day-to-day responsibilities, team culture, or growth opportunities. Overall, the process felt rigid and transactional. The technical questions were fair, but the experience itself was not very welcoming or energizing.

They asked how I would troubleshoot a Linux server or production system that was experiencing high CPU usage, including what commands I would use and how I would narrow down the root cause.

Nice interviewers, they ask system design questions. Work habits, gitlab, community, best traits, pros and cons.
Furthermore, they were very kind to me during the interview process. I really appreciate it.

How does terraform works? How does GitLab work? Show me a system design architecture for a gaming website so that the latency is low and efficient.

Very wierd experience interviewing with IBM for 4 Yrars DevOps Engineer position. 1st round was with a newbie who didn't knew anything asking questions from google and checking answer on google had to correct hom few times. Second round with someone senior who was technically decent went good and last round was with PM which went good post that ghosted me.
