Initial hiring is based on an online application, screening, and scoring system. Itf referred for consideration, it is more of a process for lower level than an interview. Application should NOT be a one or two page resume. Make it relevant, but be sure to be as detailed as possible.

Colloquio
I went to the IRS in-person hiring event. It was a really simple process of registering and fingerprinting. No actual interview questions were asked. The whole process took about three hours.
Direct hire. Needed basic info and was hired on the spot. It was quite a simple process, just long. Come with everything they request or you may be turned away.
No interview was required for this position, just applied and was offered the position. Began as a clerk and did that for two years to get my foot in the door.
