The recruiter was very nice and helpful but the interview process was still erratic. The technical screening from the recruiter side was great. However, once I got introduced to the actual company, it felt very chaotic. This seemed largely due to there being no dedicated HR personnel at this company. They are a 20+ year old company (since 1997) but still have their CMO (Chief Marketing Officer) and co-founder, in charge of every detail right down to when the engineers (to whom she is not a direct report) have time to meet. At the last minute they entirely no-showed to the technical interview they had scheduled with me with great urgency. I later found out that the CMO had changed her mind an hour before, and that now the 4 positions they were trying to fill with this title were no longer open. That's fine but maybe try to be professional and let me know that instead of just letting me sit there in a video call waiting for nobody. Took a day to even hear anything after that. When I asked the recruiter why they didn't have dedicated Human Resources personnel she confided in me that the company only had 12 employees up until 2019. Either way, if they really are growing 100% year over year as they claim, then maybe it's time for some of their C-level executives to delegate a bit.
