This had to be one of the worst job interviews I've experienced. The CEO interviewed me personally and immediately rattled off information at me without leaving any space for me to respond. In her monologue, she mentioned that team culture is important and they aren't interested in hiring people who just want to clock in and do their work and clock out - that participation in their many team building activities was expected and mandatory. She also mentioned an annual retreat at her cottage in muskoka where staff "gets drunk for 2 days straight" - as if that would be a selling feature to me, a 40 year old professional. Additionally - welcome to 2024, where people clock in, do their work, and clock out because work is NOT life, coworkers are NOT family, and it's my right to earn my money doing my work and then leave it behind for the night. Ooooomph. She went on to say that she handles training and that "it would be intense and, in all honesty, I'm going to micro manage the *expletive* outta you." That's a verbatim quote. She also questioned my experience with Digital Marketing simply because I had never been a part of a website build before. My past experience had been with a company doing content creation and deployment for social and website campaigns.
She then sent me an incredibly comprehensive PM test scenario, which would require me to onboard myself onto their PM platform, create an extensive project plan, track my time - all without compensation.
This behaviour is toxic and working at this company sounds actually awful. Anyone who opens a call with a prospective hire by guaranteeing she'll "micro-manage the *expletive* outta you" is just perpetuating toxic behaviour.
AVOID.
