      Colloquio

I found this process highly inappropriate and really damaging for indeed as I will explain below. 1st contact: Initially I was contacted by an internal recruiter working directly with indeed about this position. He sent me the job description and the profiles of the hiring manager and team members(which was super helpful). I outreached to them via LinkedIn asking out the position and culture within the business also highlighting that I was looking forward to speaking with them during the process on these topics. He setup a call with me and was super helpful. I said I was interested to enter the funnel as my skills closely matched the person they were looking for. 1st contact with Senior Recruiter: I was passed over to a “Senior Recruiter” to handle the next steps of my interview process. He provided info and arranged a call prior to my interview with the hiring manager. All seemed business as usual. I felt prepped for the interview. Interview with Hiring Manager: We spoke candidly about the role my experience and what type of person she wished to add to her team to evolve it and the department. Upon completion of my interview I had been informed that I would be moving to the 2nd stage to discuss about indeed’s APIs and my further understanding of how they and the team operated. She told me that she would instruct HR of this feedback and of course I was delighted. 2nd Contact with Senior Recruiter: As the day wore onwards I received an email from indeed’s Senior Recruiter looking after my journey. Upon reading the email it did not reflect what the hiring manager informed me of. To my surprise it mentioned that I did a “Good interview” but the decision would be made on Friday. So I waited. 3rd Contact with Senior Recruiter: Friday morning arrived and passed along with lunchtime. 3pm I received an email from this “Senior Recruiter” stating that I had been unsuccessful in the process and the reasons stated were as follows: 1. The hiring manager found you unmotivated for the role. 2. also, it seems you did very little research on what partnerships for Indeed truly mean. Upon receiving this email and reviewing numerous times I could hardly believe my eyes. Firstly Indeed reached out to me essentially attempting to “COURT” me away from my current employer with this position. Secondly, I was told directly I did a good interview and finally the level of defamity and lack of respect shown to a potential senior employee is downright rude and an awful experience to have with indeed. I was disappointed not to be moving through stages but to receive such harmful and unnecessarily negative feedback has really effected my experience with the company. The defaming language within my final email makes me question whether indeed is a place to work for any employee of high pedigree as I was shown total lack of respect and then not given actionable feedback to work on for the future. I honestly would second guess working here if this was my experience and I will continue to tell people about this. Upon receiving this message. I sent it over to senior leadership with HR at indeed EMEA and we managed to arrange a call and spoke for 30 mins and I will say they took the time to listen and action my feedback on this experience. Which is something I can really commend as not many would follow this way of thinking. If only more people within the organisation followed his guidelines then this situation could have been different. Himself the initial outreach recruiter and hiring manager were kind but because of the “Senior Recruiters” lack of professionalism it has undone all there good work.

Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback with me. Once again I wanted to say I am very disappointed to hear about your experience and can only apologies for the poor experience you had. Putting jobseekers first is one of our company values, and this experience does not reflect the standards and processes we have in place to make sure our candidates have a positive candidate experience. I accept and acknowledge that we have improvements to make in delivering this consistently. We are listening to all the feedback we receive on our external channels and through candidate experience surveys, so we can continue to improve our interview processes, so I appreciate the time you have taken to share this feedback, and the opportunity it gives us to improve. It was a pleasure to speak to you in more detail, and best of luck in the future. Richard Hayes, EMEA Talent Attraction Director
