I was given a lengthy formal application to fill out, as well as a basic grammar test. After completing those, the boss came to speak with me. He is a very off-putting man who told me, over the course of my interview, that I should get married so I can stay in town for free, asked if I was seeing anyone (and told me it would be "a problem" if I was dating anyone from my college town), made a few disparaging remarks about the blue collar workers he creates his materials for, and would not give me a formal offer until I accepted the position. He also went above and beyond to emphasize A) how "very difficult" this position would be, and B) how much he wanted his employees to stay for life.
The pay range I eventually squeezed out of him (28,000 to 35,000) is supplemented by quarterly bonuses, excellent insurance, and regular performance-based raises, according to him-- so if you're willing to look past the other issues, this position could be a good one.
