Interviewed for fresh Ph.D graduate position. Although I already have an offer from another company, I was quite interested in the position as the works at Cypress looked more interesting and had more growth potential. Interview went really well and got a call from the hiring manager in a couple days that they are going to move forward. The salary and relocation negotiation went very well too. We even talked about possible tasks after joining the team, rough idea of future projects, etc. After a couple of weeks later, while I was waiting for an official offer letter, the hiring manager suddenly told me that the my offer is declined by higher managements due to the economy going down. But the hiring manager gave some hope that it might be changed in a couple of months or so, and I decided to wait. Interesting thing was that 3 other people who interviewed at the same time were already received offer while I didn't. I asked why and the company said that it was because I was the only fresh PhD while others have at least 3 to 4 years of experiences. Anyway, I waited for 6 months but nothing happened. I ended up with interviewing other companies and joined there. It was a unforgettable, life changing event for me.
