If Inova wanted someone ONLY with hospital experience, then why bother calling me at all? Why wasn't that specifically put in the position ad? I felt that INOVA completely wasted my time. With the tests, the phone interviews and the Essay write up I did - I could have put that time into applying for a position with a company that knew who they were looking for. I have 6 years of healthcare IT experience and 15 years overall Marketing experience - I was very clear about my background in the application.
First took two tests in order to complete the application, one was IQ based and one personality based. I have Six years of healthcare IT experience. Two years at VP level. The qualifications did not say that I was required to have hospital experience, but in the healthcare field. The interview with the recruiter was very nice. Then I had a second interview with the hiring manager. She was late, she told me she had 20 minutes for me. It took 20 minutes to go through my resume. Then she asked me to write an email proving that I had healthcare experience that would relate to hospitals. From the get go she put me on the defensive. Why interview me at all if she wanted strictly hospital experience.
I wrote an excellent email about my experience with 6 examples. Two were strategic and two were specific examples of how my experience would relate. I've been a hiring manager in her shoes at this level, this was an excellent example of exactly what she asked for. No response for two and a half weeks and then I get an email saying I didn't get the job because of my lack of hospital expererience and how my experience did not specifically relate.
