      The night before the interview a recruiter emailed me some “interview prep” material. I reviewed it the next morning and found three “cases” which were just vague descriptions of their company processes and products and how I would improve them. The interview kicked off and without showing any interest in knowing more about me or telling me more about their company they wanted me to do a presentation based on almost no information provided. My assumption was that my ability to get the details from them would be part of the test but, no, the more questions I asked, the more they seemed to feel I wasn’t understanding the point of what of what I was being tested on. They wanted a show they could critique. And that’s really the problem here - it wasn’t an interview it was a test. It wasn’t respectful, it wasn’t human or even good business. It was just a way to see what kind of show I could give. I work in machine learning and healthcare with a very large company and have been in many interviews of which I can’t think of a single one where the people and the format was this annoying and disrespectful. It’s a good thing though, as we parted ways five minutes in. This must a godawful place to work if that’s how they treat people. Good riddance.
