Planned 5 rounds of interviews for a Director of Operations role, made it through 3 rounds. Everyone I met with was kind and professional. Here are my takeaways from my conversations with 3 current employees based on questions I asked them:
• The company is growing fast with questionable leadership since some of the top leaders have limited experience in the fields they're responsible for.
• There is a perceived significant level of hubris underlying the kindness of employees and leaders.
• The 100% remote nature of the company presents significant challenges in building meaningful relationships.
• It takes outsized effort to realize the same impact or reward that you would have at a typical tech startup.
• Unlimited PTO, but it is highly discouraged.
Also, the transparent compensation program is noteworthy, but the leveling for many roles does not match industry standards. A director level is significantly under-compensated compared to any other tech startup or established tech company in particular markets.
I took the opportunity to interview for practice, which was very helpful. I recommend proceeding with caution and asking a lot of questions of your interviewers to try and understand who they are and what they're like to work with. I am certain that happiness there, like any company, largely depends on who your manager is.
I also question any company that requires a personality test or logic test as the very first step before they initiate interviews. In my experience, companies that employ these tactics create a highly biased employee base and risk a very homogenous culture with significant negative outcomes. It's very common in many interviews to complete a challenging activity, logic, programming, or something of the like. However, this personality and logic test never came up in the interview process as a way to determine my problem-solving process or who I am as a person. So I guess I passed that at least?

Felt like a creative writing class at the beginning. Took almost two hours to fill out the first step questions, I mean they were fun anecdotes, but way to many of them. Plus a cognitive and a personality test, just a lot.
